ERAS 2nd Annual Puppy Picnic, 2004!

On Sunday, Sept 19th, on a gloriously beautiful fall day, we held our 2nd annual ERAS puppy picnic
once again at the Kankakee River State Park in Kankakee, Illinois. We had a great turnout, although some
of our special friends were not able to make it this year. We missed them terribly and hope they'll be able to
join us for our picnic next year.

Once again, the 4-legged picnic-ers had as good a time as the 2-legged ones! The food was delicious, the company
superb and the dogs all healthy and happy and beautiful! The sun was warm and the laughter plentiful. What more could
any of us have hoped for?

I have always said, that I have the best puppy buyers in the whole world, and I have to say it again!
My puppy buyers are the best in the world! This year, they've been plotting since Christmas to
surprise Steve and I with a creative and really fun gift, which we were so surprised about! Many of them
gave us a special ornament with their dog's picture in it and/or family picture and also presented us with a
beautiful fabric covered ornament box to store them in. On top of the box are two animated plush puppies
wagging their tails to the tune of "Love Will Keep Us Together". It was SO adorable and the ornaments will be
something we'll cherish forever. We can't wait to put up a special tree this Christmas with just our puppy ornaments
on it!

You guys are just the best! Thank you so much for your thoughtful and creative gifts! Below are some pictures from our special fun puppy day!
I hope you enjoy them!

Lots of laughter and smiling faces were heard and seen all day!

smiles and t-shirts!

What a perfect day for a walk in the park...

One of the most touching things for me this year, was when Bonnie Kramer decided to have a picture
contest and raise some money for H.E.A.R.T. She asked that anyone wanting to join the contest, send their pictures to her along with a $5.00 donation for each picture included. She and her great kids, Sara and Beth (and probably dad and hubby, Eric too) all worked hard arranging them on poster boards with cute captions underneath, in the different picture categories and had them ready in 2 weeks for the picnic!

Each of us was given a ballot on which to mark 6 of our favorite pictures (one from each category) and place our vote. She had cute ceramic dog bowls and 'Havanese' note pads for each category winner. It was so hard to choose the 'cutest' picture, because each one was cuter than the next!

The most amazing and touching part though was that H.E.A.R.T will be receiving over $600.00 from ERAS Puppy Buyers shortly! In just two weeks, so many of you came through and were so generous and I can't thank you enough. H.E.A.R.T. is in a 2 yr. long research on the health issues of our breed and lots of money is needed to help pay the costs. I am sooooo proud of all of you. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Below is a picture from our Photo Contest.

And, oh yes!! We had the annual pet costume competition too. LOL What a hoot that was.
